United Way is at the core of a movement. It’s a movement inspired by a genuine passion for social change. It’s a movement powered by people willing to share their time, talent and resources in favour of the common good. And it’s a movement that is improving individual lives and the social conditions of our community every single day.
Our work as an organization inspires and empowers individual and corporate citizens to participate in this dynamic philanthropic effort. We offer to community our knowledge, our networks and our tools so that good intentions can be leveraged into positive and impactful action.
Our relationships and expertise keep us in step and connected to the entire social fabric of our community and the vast capacities and resources our region has to offer to it. Together we identify, understand and set priorities to address the critical gaps that exist between our vision of a caring and vibrant community and the realities of our region today
Social challenges like poverty, homelessness, family violence, low graduation and literacy rates truly affect us all. When someone in our community has no shelter or a child at Norwood School is going hungry the strength of our entire community is weakened. There is no doubt, we are all connected.
At United Way, we believe that this connectedness is our greatest asset - that by working together, there is nothing we can’t do and nothing we can’t overcome. Our strength is reflected in our name, United Way. We’re about people working united as a community, for the community.
