United Way’s 16th annual Tools for School program officially kicked off to the general public on the morning of July 15, 2010. The event hosted by the InKind Centre and emceed by Citytv’s Ryan Jespersen went very smoothly. Ryan did a great job of explaining the program to all who attended. He is a strong United Way supporter and is also a big promoter of the Coats for Kids and Families program.
Tim Osborne was once again able to speak on behalf of United Way, explaining why Tools for School is so important, especially once you start adding up the many expenses one encounters when trying to get their children geared up for school.
Ed Hervey of the Edmonton Eskimo's asked our audience to imagine playing hockey without a hockey stick…it would be really tough! Then he asked the audience to imagine themselves in the shoes of a student attending school without the required supplies and described how, without the proper tools, children can find it very difficult to achieve educational success.
A big thank-you to everyone who came out to support the event. It was a great way to kick off another campaign for Tools for School.
